Reduce pain. Move with confidence. Train safely—
at any age.

If movement feels painful, restricted, unstable, or unpredictable—or if exercise seems to create more problems than it solves—a focused movement evaluation can bring clarity.

Many people arrive here after imaging, physical therapy, or training hasn’t fully answered their questions.

This is where movement finally makes sense.

What is a
movement evaluation?

This is a private, in-depth assessment led by Dr. Jeremy Alvarez, Healthspan’s Sports Medicine Director.

During your session, Dr. Alvarez evaluates:

  • Joint range of motion and functional limitations

  • Mobility restrictions and compensation patterns

  • Balance, stability, and coordination

  • How issues in one area affect the rest of the body (the kinetic chain)

  • Movement efficiency related to strength, training, or sport

The goal isn’t a generic exercise plan. It’s understanding how you move, why certain issues persist, and what needs to change to move forward safely and effectively.

Who this is for.

A movement evaluation is especially helpful if you:

  • Have unresolved joint pain, stiffness, or recurring aches

  • Feel hesitant, unstable, or limited during exercise

  • Are recovering from an injury or surgery—or managing something that never fully healed

  • Want to stay active as you age, but don’t trust your body the way you used to

  • Have been told “everything looks fine,” yet know something isn’t right

  • Are starting—or rethinking—a strength or training program

Clients are often surprised by how much they learn about their own bodies—sometimes for the first time.

Why this matters.

Especially as we age—but not only then, strength and cardio fitness matter.

But how you move determines whether either helps or harms you.

Unaddressed movement limitations can:

  • Increase joint stress and injury risk

  • Undermine balance and confidence

  • Stall progress despite consistent effort

  • Quietly erode independence over time

Dr. Jeremy teaches his patients that movement quality is foundational. It guides how you train, rehabilitate, and optimize performance—so progress is sustainable, not fragile.

How you’ll feel after your evaluation.

Most people arrive focused on what hurts. They leave with something more valuable: understanding, relief, and a sense of direction. While every body is different, patients commonly describe three immediate takeaways:

Understood.

Movement issues are often misunderstood—even by people who are otherwise healthy and active. It’s surprisingly common for pain in one area to be driven by limitations somewhere else in the kinetic chain. For example, a shoulder that won’t settle down may be compensating for restricted ankle or hip mobility. Seeing how these patterns connect can be genuinely eye-opening. Many patients say this is the first time their symptoms have actually made sense.

Relieved.

In many cases, people experience relief during the session itself. Through careful observation and patient, hands-on guidance, Dr. Alvarez often helps clients move more efficiently—reducing unnecessary strain and tension. Even small adjustments in how the body organizes movement can feel immediately freeing. Relief doesn’t always mean “fixed in an hour,” but it often means less guarded, less tight, and more at ease.

Empowered.

Perhaps most important, patients leave knowing what to do next. Rather than vague advice, Dr. Alvarez often recommends specific movements or adjustments tailored to your body—things you can begin applying right away to support healing, performance, or confidence in motion. Many people describe this as a shift from managing a problem to participating in the solution.

For most patients, the evaluation doesn’t just identify issues—it restores confidence in their body’s ability to move forward.
